Masks Will Be Required at San Diego Comic-Con

Will you be attending this year’s San Diego Comic-Con? Then you better make sure to bring your mask! Comic-Con, or Comic-Con International, is one of the most highly anticipated events of the year, drawing thousands of fans and entertainment professionals alike to gather and celebrate all things popular culture. Though dressing up in cosplay has been encouraged at conventions like SDCC since its inception, masks have always been required at events such as these, so attendees can stay anonymous and keep their privacy intact throughout the convention.

Masked Heroes
At this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, masks will be required for all attendees. This is to help protect everyone from the spread of germs and to create a more fun and festive atmosphere. So don your favorite mask and get ready for a weekend of superhero fun! For high protection, an N95 face mask is a better choice. You can find masks just about anywhere these days – dollar stores, toy stores, grocery stores – they’re everywhere! The best way to make sure you have a mask before heading out on Saturday morning is to buy one ahead of time online or pick one up before you leave home. You can also stop by your local costume store if you have time today.

Stay Hydrated
With all the walking around you’ll be doing at Comic-Con, it’s important to stay hydrated. Drink plenty of water throughout the day, and if you’re going to be drinking alcohol, make sure to drink even more water. You can also bring along a reusable water bottle to fill up at water fountains. If you plan on bringing food or drinks into the convention center with you, keep in mind that backpacks are not allowed inside. And don’t forget your mask! Masks will be required this week! They’ll be provided for attendees as they enter the hall, but you might want to bring one from home just in case.
Wearing masks is encouraged but it’s best to avoid full-face masks as these may prevent us from identifying lost children quickly should an emergency arise.
Speaking of emergencies, have an exit strategy planned before entering the show floor so that you know where emergency exits are located and which direction you need to go to find them. And finally, be kind – always!

Wear Protective Eyewear
It is now mandatory to wear masks at all times when attending San Diego Comic-Con. This rule is in place to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Please be sure to bring a mask with you to the convention center and wear it at all times. If you do not have a mask, you will be able to purchase one at the convention center. Additionally, please wear protective eyewear when possible. The masks are not designed to protect your eyes, so be safe!
First off, we’ve seen some concerns that this new requirement could make Comic-Con less fun. Let’s take a moment to talk about what this change means for us as attendees. We still get to enjoy our favorite TV shows and movies! Our masks are designed only for our mouths and noses, so we can see everything going on around us without having any effect on our vision.
