Firefighters are working to extinguish a raging fire in Yosemite National Park that has forced some visitors to evacuate and created dangerous conditions, with gusty winds, hot temperatures and high humidity. The blaze has burned more than 1,000 acres and is at zero percent containment as of Tuesday morning, according to the National Park Service. The fire started around noon on Monday at Camp Mather, where there were no structures or injuries reported.
The fire started on Saturday afternoon near the town of Mariposa, about 50 miles south of Yosemite National Park. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but it is believed to have been started by a human. The fire quickly spread through the dry brush and trees, fueled by strong winds.
