Guide to select a good protective mask, face mask

There are many kinds of face masks on the world. there are quite different in usage and quality.

Roughly we can distinguish grades by usage designed as:

1, Dust proof masks.  They are  designed for dust proof only, have no effect to protect from any virus.

2, Medical general disposal masks.    They are  designed for general medical usage only, may have some few  effect  to block virus.

3, Medical surgical disposal masks.    They are  designed for blocking germs and virus,  can block much of  virus. Although they are not the most protective, but cheap and easy to get.

4. N95/KN95/FFP2 masks. They are  designed for blocking PM2.5 particles so do it to virus. So block most of  virus if keep it in good condition.

5.Medical surgical  protective/ N95/FFP3 masks. They are  designed for blocking  virus in medical condition. So block almost all of virus if keep it in good condition.

they are usually high price but best functional and durable.

 

And also, they are  different quality  between masks in same grade. You may find difference in material,  outlook, technology, brand etcs, we will discuss in another aticle.

Daily dust proof masks
Only block dust and spray, not designed for block virus Not qualified for blocking any virus.
Medical disposal masks Can block germs. Can block spray. No strict requirements for virus protection

Medical surgical masks
Designed for germs and virus protection. Can block spray which contains coronavirus.

·Wear it during daily use, public transportation, taxi driver, social workers and public service.
·Reduces much of the chance of infection
·It’s cheap and disposal

N95/KN95/FFP2
Designed for micron virus protection. Can block particles and spray which contains coronavirus.
·Standard GB2626-2006 /FDA /CE
·Marked N95/KN95 “protective mask”
·Wear it if have risk contacting with infected persons when going out, shopping or small gatherings.
·Reduces most of the chance of infection

Medical protective/ N95/FFP3
·Standard GB19083-2010 /FDA /  CE
·Marked N95 NIOSH  “medical protective mask”
·Wear it if have high risk be infected such as at hospital or facing or contacting patients.
·Reduces almost all of the chance of infection
